Research, student video
The Music video that i am analysing is a student video made by city and islington pupils from last year. I really enjoy this music video its by the artist called Emile Sande - Heaven. This music video uses Andrew Goodwin's theory of Amplification. Amplification is when the artist brings new meaning to the lyrics but it does not contradict it. This music video is amplification because it has religious connotations of the word 'Heaven'.
The music video conveys the music artist exactly the way she is. Its quite simple but you can tell it contains a deeper meaning and viewers can relate to it.I really liked the fact that the cuts are in time with the beat in the beginning of the video. I also liked the performance of the artist because she put a lot of passion in to her lipsynching and choreography. Another thing that I liked is the fact that they use different angles and jump cuts. For example, when shes on the stairs the camera was down looking up at her, showing light on top of her which also gives the connotations of heaven.
