Research; Beyonce - Countdown

Beyonce - Countdown

This is one of my favourite videos (I may be a little bit bias as, I am probably Beyonce's biggest fan, but that's up for discussion). Anyway, the two things I love about the video is the editing and Beyonce's choreography. The first edit I like is where the artist is not singing, but doing a motif which goes with a sound effect within the song;

During this motif, there is ticking noise, to represent a clock and here, Beyonce is translating through her body that she is the clock. It also goes with the song title "Countdown". It introduces Beyonce as a choreographer/dancer.

The next edit which interested me are the use of multiple split-screens throughout the video;

Within these split-screens, Beyonce is seen either doing choreography or showing off her personality. This gives her fans a sense of how she is like as a person. For example, in one shot she is dancing comically, showing her funny side. In another, she is seen blinking really fast, employing a chivalry effect on any male viewers.

This is my all time favourite edit in this video. The mise en scene, the position she is in and the split-screens, contrast but go together aswell.

This is a really cool edit, where the performer is repeated doing the same dance moves, but copied in the video in a different sequence.
