What I Think. . . .

The structure of most music videos, approach narrative story line but not like novels. The pop video always uses the singer as the as the main character and narrator, ofteb the singer directly looks at the camera, including the the viewer at home. Pop videos, repeat images whilst the chorus are being repeated too. The scenes of the music video is repeated of the artists so the viewers are familliarised and can remember the artists and song.Majority of the time the narrative story in the video builds climax as the lyrics being sung, showing the viewers the underlaying message.

Andrew Goodwin Theory
He suggested most music videos have this structure, to perform what they are singing, show a diffrent meaning, or no connection at all in the music video.

When the music video tells the story of the lyrics this is called Illustration. Dance is often used to expres; feelings, mood in the song.

When the video introduces new meanings that do not contradict with the lyrics but add layers of meaning is called Amplification.
E.g When she sings "wet and wild", Katty Perry implying sexual behaivour.

When there is little connection between the lyric and video, this is called Disjuncture.
E.g Mj sings man in the mirror but moon walks in the video.

Most Pop videos have a feature that we are familiarised with, for instance MJ famous white glove on his right hand and hm moon walking.
Ndubz their favourite skank, that they always do together and sing "Nanananaa.."
